Exhibiton - Attingham Park, House of the Beasts

I really enjoyed this exhibition as I thought that it was inventive that since the house had become dishevelled and at one point I'm sure that animals did live in the house i.e. birds, or would have if left that it was imaginative to while restoring the house put animals in the house.
My favourite items were the 2 circular balls one made out of small mice skulls, the other out of peacock feathers with the eyes cut out and the over flowing pot that was in the kitchen.
I enjoyed the circular ball that was made out of mice heads because afar it looked like a white ball and when you got closer it was disturbingly made out of little mice skulls, what made you marvel even more was the fact that it was perfectly circular which drew you in more and made you want to find out how it was so perfectly circular even though you were disturbed that it was made out of mice skulls.
The ball that was made out of peacock feathers was called “blind” which suitably had the eyes cut off however the ball was still interesting as how they had been cut had been an inverse arrow and without the peacock eyes and their majestic colours you were left to look at the overall shape and the colours that the “plain” green stems shone, purple in some light or a jade green.
In the kitchen was a pot that had overflowed with a swirl of feathers that you wanted to touch in all different colours and sizes and looks a little magical in the way that it was swirling out of the pot which suited the old house that had been taken over by the beasts. The colours were good and the way that the overflow moved was also well done and looked as it would have had it been liquid.

In this exhibition I learned that things that are out of place, can work as they can evoke certain emotions within people due to what they connect them to. This could work in Fashion such as having unusual fabrics together, different shapes i.e. cuboid shapes within clothing and clashing colours that would normally not work together and is an acquired taste. I started looking at some clothing that had 3D pieces in and looked at some of the work in the workrooms since they appeared to be using 3D shapes in their work, and have looked to exaggerate it in some designs that I wish to do based on the concept of things looking out of place.
Mahshall Designs. Made by scanning in someone's body, and using the data to create 2d patterns, more a piece of sculptural artwork than to be worn.
